I assume you meant ten per decade, because nobody would limit a man to just ten favorite movies in a lifetime! In no particular order:
  • Quigley Down Under
  • Rio Bravo
  • The Magnificent Seven (Yul Brynner original)
  • Winchester 73
  • Silverado
  • How the West Was Won
  • Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
  • The Cheyenne Social Club
  • El Dorado
  • The Quiet Man
  • McLintock
  • Rio Lobo
  • Sons of Katie Elder
  • Lord of the Rings (including the LOR trilogy plus the Hobbit movies)
  • Mary Poppins (new and old)
  • The Sound of Music
  • The Greatest Showman
  • Fiddler on the Roof
  • Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
  • Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original)
  • White Christmas (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye)
  • Darkest Hours
  • The Post
  • Forrest Gump
  • Independence Day (the original with Will Smith)
  • Die Hard
  • Rocky (just the original)
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
  • Psycho
  • 12 Angry Men (the original with Henry Fonda)
  • It's a Wonderful Life (though I'm starting to get a little tired of it after 3-4 viewings every Christmas!)
  • Miracle on 34th Street (the original)
I'll confess to a preference (obvious) for westerns and musicals, but other pop up from time to time that make me go wow. I'm still adding to my list for my remaining three decades!

What a great thread. Here are some of my picks...
Forrest Gump
Memento
Fight Club
The Matrix
Inception
Unforgiven
The Magnificent Seven (western and the samurai original)
Limitless
Young Abraham Lincoln
Tampopo
Kung Fu Hustle
Citizen Kane
The Godfather 1 and 2
Waking Ned Devine.

Sorry, more than ten. Also, so many awesome movies already listed. I find I can watch Westerns many many times.

Pretty Woman
Big Jake

Gladiator
The Last Samurai
Old Yeller
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
The Incredible Mr Limpet
No Place For Sergeants

I'd have a very difficult time naming ten movies i've watched more then once. Apocalypse Now, maybe half a dozen times, Tom Jones a couple but that was on TV when i was kid, Pulp Fiction a couple, Big Lebowski maybe twice, Blood Simple maybe twice, maybe M.A.S.H. a couple times on TV, Seven Samuri a couple times... and i'm stuck.

If i've seen it once why would i watch it again, years since i watched any TV, i don't read books more then once unless it's reference material, cooking it's continuously trying new things for over thirty years.

Music is all that bears up to repetition.

I think I'd enjoy movie night at any of y'alls places. I'll bring Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Ace Ventura, both of them
Hot Shots, all of them
Fight club
Big Lebowski
Friday. Just the first one.
Aladdin
The legend of Bagger Vance

For some reason . . . as much as I love comedies, I find they don't "last" as well for me as dramas. Maybe because (as in the Python films) I know the jokes? I remember absolutely LOVING the movie Silver Streak. I watched it again some years ago on TBS and thought . . . meh.

No such movie exists for me. All movies grow tiresome with repetition. Rio Lobo is a good example. Good movie, but NBC ran it to death when they used to air movies.

Smokey and the Bandit comes close, but separation time has to be in years. It was a joy to introduce it to the "kids" when they were old enough. Here the fun was watching their reaction to gags you knew were coming.

Wouldn't mind seeing A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum again.
