Can Naniwa whetstones and Coticules last a lifetime?

Coticules will last so long as you don't drop them typical wear aside. Some synth waterstones warp or craze over time, others not so much.

If synt waterstones warp or craze, does this affect honing performance?
I think it depends on how you take care of them and how often you use them. Keep them straight and even and clean. Use them often enough so they don't feel neglected. I have a set of Naniwa stones and they are in good shape.
In the past, when I was trying to do dilucot a lot more frequently; I put pretty considerable wear on a number of coticules. But just using one is a finisher, it should last a lifetime or darn near it. I can’t comment on the naniwa. My Sigma power stone certainly seem like they’d be fine for a lifetime, But the longest I ever kept a naniwa was maybe a year.

As far as warping and crazing goes, my Naniwas seem to get more stable with age. The 1k Chosera is really the only one that has thinned measurably from use. I expect that for most people they would last a lifetime.

Depends on how many razors you hone, how long you live and how you store them.
If you never get into hand tool woodworking stones last long enough that you’ll never bother calculating out the cost per hone or year. If you get too deep into hand tool woodworking though you’ll wear out DMTs, Suehiros, and eventually softer JNATs.
One could argue that the crafts person that is wearing out their stones is actually the one who is getting the better value.
That’s my plan. Take up woodworking when I retire so I get to use my collection as much as it deserves.
If you wear one out you definitely got the full utility at least... a lot of it depends on if you’re just maintaining edges or restoring too.
if you are worried one stone won't last then buy two or three 
being true enablers we at B&B advise buying 2 of every stone. That way if you don't die before you ware the first one out the second one will get you out the backdoor .
