My Guess... 3017

Lathers continue to get more dialed in as I go, even with a homemade soap I'd used before and thought I knew well. Two weeks and change now and I had a very slick lather for my first straight shave in ages. Good stuff. Puck is weighing in at 74g now, down just 6g from when I started. That said, it seems less dry, so maybe a couple or 3 grams of water in there.

My experience with the durability of unrated DR Harris pucks in consistent with everyone else's. I've been using Arlington for a solid 4 months, with several remaining.

beginish, is that "underrated" or "ungrated" by chance? I think Harris soaps went from highly-touted to underrated almost overnight with the advent of artisan lines. I love Almond and Arlington in particular. Incredible soaps.

Late update on this. I did go with the Tiki Salty Air/Surfs up mash up starting early May and its actually a pretty good soap. It is the tallow version and I found after using it for a few days the scent is fine, soap mostly with maybe a bamboo scent. I'm beating it down with a big badger brush and its going pretty fast but using a lot of soap is working.

Ungrated. Dang autocorrect.

They are good, but I have them in my second tier, as they require more attention and diligence on my part.

I hear you. They aren't automatic, but the lathers are still very good, and something about hard pucks appeals to me. I keep Almond on hand at all times. A quintessential wetshaving scent to me.

Enjoyed a second shave, before going out for a late dinner this evening, with a vintage Musgo Real stick. This has the same great properties as vintage Old Spice, Tabac, and tallow AOS. Dense, creamy, and slick.

ABC finished today. Great soap, top 3 for sure. On deck is Floris #89.

@JeffJ What is the significance of the red print?

They are links to the product pages in the B&B shave wiki. Years ago I helped build out the shaving soap section of the wiki and linked my inventory to the general wiki pages. Also all B&B members also have the option to create a personal wiki page (Menu/Shave Wiki/Your Page). I use it to keep track of my stuff and my 3017 progress.

Shave 107 today on my home-made sandalwood scented soap. At the current rate of consumption I won't get it finished this year! I just don't use much for a two pass shave face lathering.

I'll probably use a couple other soaps once in a while, just for variety even though this one is very very nice.

Good luck with the 89, Jeff. I couldn’t master it a very long time ago.

Another secondary effect of using one soap/cream ... a “bad” scent becomes tolerable, maybe even pleasant. I noticed after my shave this morning that after 3 weeks with Maca Root shaving cream that the floral scent went unnoticed until I noticed that I didn’t notice it...

Same thing happened with Cella which I also really didn’t like at first. After some weeks the scent is just the scent.

I hit a milestone today of 100 shaves on my first puck of Williams. I started to 3017 the partial puck 64 days ago.

I agree. There are a few scents that get to me over time, but by and large, when you're using it daily, a fragrance can become white noise.
