Price: Picked up 100 blades for less than $30...can't beat that.
Quality: Definitely my go-to blade of choice. Great quality blade that seems to be revered as one of, if not the best blade made. Sharpness: I think everyone knows about the Feather's sharpness and ability to punish if you do not pay attention to what you are doing. Longevity:For me, these last as long or longer than the other popular brands. Smoothness of Shave: Since switching to the Feather, all hints of razor burn and irritation are gone. Gives, by far, the best shave of any razor I have used. I agree with Ouch in that all you need to get a good shave with these is a slow hand and a health dose of respect for these blades. Packaging: Nothing fancy here, just the standard plastic blade holder with each blade wrapped individually. |

I picked up the 100 razor deal, although I'm not sure why. Maybe hoping my first pack was below standard. These pups are sharp, but by day three, they get in the groove. The only problem for me is days one, two, and five. I'm not a huge fan, but they are still better than the store-branded Personna blades I started with.

I have to chime in here. Feathers are great as far as sharpness/smoothness of shave, but also in terms of blade longevity. Maybe longevity is due to the sharpness.
I have never nicked/cut/weepered myself with feathers. Everyone talkes about their "oohhh! sharp! death to the newbie who uses a feather before the 8 month technique period is over" I used feathers on the 4th shave. And, yes, you have to be careful, but you should be careful with any blade you use. Simple concept. Other blades have pulled and not been BBS as feathers (I need to go against the grain to get a good shave). Israelis are not for me. I can get 3 mediocre shaves out of each Israeli blade, and that is it. The Feathers are good enough for me that I ordered another 100 (on special) even though I have 80 left. I don't want to lose out on a good deal (for me) As in all cases, especially with blades, YMMV. |

Japanese Feather DE blades are much better value IMO than say Merkur Platinums, but they're no where near as cheap as the Derby's & Israeli Personnas.
Feathers are probably the sharpest blade around initially, however I find they are noticeably rougher by about the 4th shave. I change a DE blade after six shaves whatever the condition, and by day six with a Feather I'm looking forward to it. Are they worth the premium? Not for me, I prefer the Swedish (Euro) Gillettes & (Swedish made I'm reliably informed) Tesco blades...., both are cheaper, and IMV better overrall. Regards John |

Best blades, ever! I have some other that I barely use because the Feathers work so damn well. BBS shave every time and I seem to get a few more days out of them than the Merkurs or any other DE I use.

I have varying success with these blades, depending on what razor I'm using.
They're great in my slant bar... which is my usual set up. Four passes and almost never any irritation or stubble. They also work well for me in adjustables, esp my fatboy. I dislike them in some other older fixed-head razors, e.g. the Aristocrat. The shave is usually rougher in these setups (not bad, just rougher) than when I use Merkur blades. |

Just like everyone said they would be. I've been reading about feather blades as the holy grail of sharpness since I started wet shaving, and I recently had a chance to try them out on my Merkur slant bar. These blades are awesome, but do require a little bit more care, and much better lathering dilligence than the Merkurs I've gotten used to. That said, they slip right through the rough hair on either side of my chin like a hot knife through butter, and by virtue of their sharpness, make a much more muted sound when passing over my beard. Want to test your prep to see whether you're actually doing it right? Use a feather. The upside is that even though I gave myself about 12 nicks the first time I used it, the blade is so sharp that most nicks I've had disappear with cold water alone and don't require prolonged application of styptic or alum. These blades (at least on a slant bar, which is already a little bit aggressive) make me much less likely to experiment with different shaving creams. So far, between Trumper's soap and cream, AoS soap and cream, Colleen's (Gentleman's Quarter) cream, Caswell Massey cream, and Acqua di Parma cream, the only two shaving creams that works reliably well with the feather blades for me have been.... (drum roll) Proraso red and Proraso green. Big surprise. Do yourself a favor if you're just starting out with feathers and use them with Proraso. All in all, these blades in my slant make DE shaving as challenging, and therefore as much fun as shaving with a straight, and I'm now getting ideal shaves with this setup.

At first glance I find these blades to be the sharpest. They are indeed smooth shavers but pressure is the key, very light pressure. They are priced a bit higher than most but I think the difference is acceptable. Packaging is very good and it even has a slot for used blades. Indeed a great blade and in skilled hands a great tool.

I was wanting to like these blades, but they don't give me the best or most comfortable shaves.
I used them in both a Merkur Progress and a Slant Bar for a couple of months. I could not find a setting with the Progress that resulted in a comfortable shave. Shaves with these blades leave lots of nicks all over my face in areas where stiff stubble exists. When shaving it almost feels as if the blade edge is bending when coming in contact with the stubble instead of cutting through it. Against the grain shaves were the worst with these blades. They routinely ripped the skin around stiff whiskers. |

Wow. What amazing variation there is in our assessments of Feathers. I realize how totally personal these things are. I have been DE shaving for only about a year, and I am trying as many things as I can get my hands on. For razors I have tried and given up on Vison, FatBoy, and ThinBoy, and I have settled on Futur, HD, and (my very favorite) Slant Bar.
As soon as I finish the pack of Feathers I have, I will be taking them out of my rotation. For me, the first shave with a Feather is great -- smooth, BBS, and bloodless. The second shave is still fine. By the third shave and beyond I notice a real detioration. In order to get BBS I need to exert just enough additional pressure that I run the risk of cutting. In effecting compromise I end up getting a few small cuts and not getting a BBS shave. With the Derbys and Israelis, on the other hand, I find their performance peaks at the third or even fourth shave -- no cuts and perfect BBS (I'll soon be trying the Swedes for the first time). So for me the Feathers are over-rated. The blades I like better also cost less. |

Price: You can get a 100 for $27
Quality: Great blades, cuts without effort, no tugging. Sharpness: Incredibly sharp, it doesn't forgive if you forget. Longevity: Lasted me 3-4 shaves. Smoothness of Shave: No doubt gives a smooth shave with fewer passes than other blades I've used. Packaging: Well designed, blade covers looks nice too and has used blade slots. Overall: Great blade, no tugging ever, takes me 1 less pass to get a BBS shave on my face. Only trouble is being careless, when I got careless with this or had bad technique it made me pay with nicks /razor burn. Still a blade I want to go back to when I better develop my technique. |

No doubt these blades are very sharp but they go blunt far too quickly. The best I can manage is two shaves with these blades. I can get two very close, smooth shaves, but after that forget it. The Swedish Gillettes outperform these for me. They are smoother, as sharp, but last me for 4 shaves, no contest. I suspect that if you have a softer beard then they would last a lot longer.

Good blade...probably the best right out of the package. However, as has been noted previously these tend to lose their edge faster than any other blade. I can get 3-4 shaves out of one but when its done I know it. Some other blades I will pitch even when I could squeeze another shave or so out of it but the Feather's tell my face when they are done. I still use one every now and then in my rotation. The work very well with Gillette Super Speeds for me!

My turn to weigh in here - a first post, as I'm a new member. When I first began using a new DE (Merkur Vision) I used the Merkur Platinum blades. They're ok, but I kept hearing about these "near-lethal" Feather blades. Finally, a friend sent me a 10-pack, and I still remember the first time I loaded one in my Futur and took that first pull with the grain. I expected to find that a whole strip of skin had peeled off! Ah...what a sweet experience it was. Yep, these are some sharp blades, but that works to their advantage. While Merkur Platinums sort of pull through your beard, Feathers just glide through. The honest truth is, these nick me a whole lot less than any other blades I've ever used. You do need to respect them, for sure, but they're wonderful blades. Don't let all the hype of these things scare you. And, don't just order a 10-pack! If you did, I can about promise you that you'd pretty quickly order the 100-pack.

Those blades are sharp!!! But what is strange is that the first shave I've got is perfect and then, the second shave I've got nicks and cuts.....I think some Feather are excellent and some other are just good for one shave.....

Best blade I've used hands down.
On the down side there is some blade to blade quality variation, but less than most other brands (Merkur seems to be the most consistent- US Persona worst). And I do have to be careful on the right side of the neck as this is the area I find most challenging to maintain the proper blade angle. The positive end is that they give the smoothest, most effortless shaves and they last longer than most. I nick far less with these than others because a light touch and two passes (at most) are all that is needed. Unbeatable on the tough chin hairs and the stubborn jawline spots. They make better performers out of every razor. I recently acquired a Gillette Superspeed Red Tip and I went through a half pack of Merkurs as probation period before I armed it with a Feather. Turned out to be unwarranted caution as the Feathers made this razor run like a perfectly tuned E-type - the best shave combo I've yet encountered (and that includes the Slant and Str8s). Needless to say, they are the only blade I buy. I've got quite a few other brands but they just gather dust and take up shelf space. |

When I first stated DE shaving, I was a method shaver. It was perfectly fine doing pass after pass with these blades until I reached my neck! OMG these things can mess your neck up if you have a cowlick!! Because of the cowlick on my neck, my hair grows in like 5 directions and I have to be careful of the direction I shave. I now am a traditional shaver. I pay very close attention to the grain of my beard and have gotten BBS shaves every since. Compared to WS these are initially sharper but soon after 4-5 shaves loose their assasin like sharpness. Great blade, but just not an everyday kind of blade. If you have irritation from the last morning, DO NOT USE THESE! I had weepers everywhere!! It was like a bad Steven Sagal movie!

I've been a bit apprehensive about trying Feather blades, as I've heard people talking about them being about the sharpest thing out there and people new to DE shaving should try them.
Well, I have to say, Feather blades are probably some of the best I've used thus far. Out of the many different types of blades I'v tried, the Feathers tend to give me the closest shave with no irritation and they seem to last almost twice as long as the others. I rarely have nicks any more, but I have honestly never nicked myself with one of these blades. |
