Eh the only way I see it being a bit much is the fact you can see it puddling up at the bottom of his neck.

If its what he likes, go for it, personally that would be overkill for me.

The time he spends lathering is a positive in the prep department. What I find most fascinating is how you can hear his beard on the brush, he must have a doozy of a tough beard. Overall, I would say he is doing much more "right" than any wrong. Some of the comments in this thread (never mind on line) are specious to my mind.

Regardless of whether that's too much on his face, the amount in the bowl is crazy. It looks like he's using 3/4 of a tube of Speick or something.
But, like was stated eariler, the more he uses the more he buys. He's really only hurting his own pocketbook.

I say more power to him! He likes his lather, he likes the feel of the brush, who the heck cares. To each his own meditation and ritual.

Actually, only thing I find wrong with his technique is the lack of some soothing tunes playing in the background, but that's just me.

Now THAT'S decadence right there!

By the time he's ready to shave, I bet he has the softest beard hairs of anyone in this thread.

You want a thick layer if you don't want it drying out. Looks like 3/8". How fast would that dry out? The average member here describes their shave as 20 minutes and four passes, so would that stay wet for 4-5 minutes?

The only thing I wonder about is whether he's planning to shave his shoulders.

No matter how thick or thin is your lather, in the end, you whole bowl of soap or cream will all get rinced away into the sink anyway

He applies lather like I apply chocolate icing on cakes. You know you have enough when the excess just keeps falling off everyone time you try to put more on!
