If you use Firefox as your browser, there's an addon that will allow you to download it from the location where the video resides. Since it is a Flash source file, you will need a Flash player (freeware) to watch the movie from your hardrive. Afterwards, there are conversion programs that will convert Flash to AVI, MPG etc.
I tried it once - but it was too much work.

You actually don't need that extention if you want to save yourself some processing power. Create a new bookmark and paste the following as its location:

http://videodownloader.net/get/?url=%s

Then give it a keyword, say "v" for video. Next time you want to download something from youtube, simply put a "v " in front of the url - don't forget the space!

Thanks for the tips. I used to just grab the files out of the browser cache, but these look like they'll speed up the process.
