That's my current collection of brushes and razors---but it's a growing thing, as you guys know.
I do not want this to be entry 1 in some sort of competition---I'm well aware that drP and others have collections that dwarf mine. But I did want to give you a look at this collection---and how well the spice racks (http://www.amazon.com/Four-Tier-Spice-Rack/dp/B0002G21HW/ref=sr_11_1/104-7184984-4604712?ie=UTF8) are working out.
At the very left of the razor row you can see my new Gillette toggle. Haven't shaved with it yet, though. At the right end you see the bottom of the Vision---as with so many razor holders, "Does not fit Vision." The Futur is on another shelf, in its own holder.
Not shown, of course, are my collections of shaving soaps, shaving creams, aftershaves, colognes....

I'm sure it looks nice, but all I get is a red x. Gotta love the firewall! Just one more reason to post pics in our own gallery!

The brush up there is the new Edwin Jagger---the one with the upside down logo (so it's right-side up in the holder). I got the medium (http://www.theenglishshavingcompany.com/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/EJ467) with stand. I don't know that that combination is offered any more, and the logo now is rightside up when the brush is on the base.
Sorry about not uploading the photo to Badger & Blade. I'll try editing the post and reloading. It's hard to get everything right, isn't it?
--- Well, I tried. I went into the edit, clicked the "image" button, and it asked for the URL of the image. ??? So I left it with the URL it currently has. Sorry. Perhaps with an explanation of how to do it right I could manage.

Mama mia... that's quite impressive. And thanks to this forum, I can identify all but two of the razors

Go to the B&B Gallery first. Upload the picture there (as far as I can tell, it has to be saved to your harddrive, not on the web, to do this). Then, below the picture, you will see the picture stats and stuff. The three bottom lines will say "Direct Link Code" (this is the actually URL for the gallery picture), "BB Image Code" (this is the link with tags, so you can paste it straight into your post), and "<img> Tag Code" (This is the html tag, if you want to put the link into something that uses html).
Copy the text in the "BB Image Code" box, and paste it straight into your post - you don't have to click on the "add image" link or anything (if you do, you would paste in the "Direct Link Code" text instead, into the dialogue box).
That should work. PM me if any troubles.

It worked. Took me a while to find the Gallery, though---I kept looking among the Forums. I note that it cut down photo size... guess that's okay.

Nice collection. My one objection to the spice racks is the piece of wood that blocks the view of part of the brushes. Other than that, very nice.

Well, I rationalize the little railing by remembering that we have earthquakes out here fairly often.
I should add that I'm still searching for a suitable rack for the shaving cream/soap collection. What I want is something 36" high, 18" wide, and 4" deep, with 3" of space between the shelves (which can be of relatively thin stock). So far I haven't found anything, and the one cabinetmaker I emailed never replied---too small a job, I imagine. If any of you now of something like that, let me know.

Thanks for doing that! Wow...very impressive collection! How many more brushes do you have on the way?

Try doing a search for spice racks on ebay. You probably will not find anything that suits there. (Heck, I couldn't even find a spice rack big enough after two months of trying - built my own. Holds about 50 bottles, which is almost enough). But you will probably find a couple of guys advertising their custom built spice racks. If you contact one, there is a decent chance they will build a deeper variant with no rail for your soaps/creams.

Aha! Good idea, Mo.
I have only two brushes on the way (from Perfect Beauty: two more Omegas). I think then I'll take a brush break for a while.
Oh, wait: Em of Em's Place placed an order for a Simpson Harvard (I think 2) and that might be coming in her most recent shipment, due in a week or two.
But then, that's it.
Oh, wait...

That's an Omega silvertip in a green Persian Jar pattern. I think it's one of the Perfect Beauty ones, or else I got it from Em's Place.

Michael,
Now, I have to ask, since I wake up and start thinking about which soap or cream to use, if you get up in the morning and ponder which brush.
¨The 23mm Vulfix? No, maybe the 26mm marble-handled from Superior Brushes.¨
¨Boy I´m getting tired of the silvertips. I think I´ll use a best badger today. Gotta have some variety.¨
Seriously, though, I do wonder: do you decide which one to use based on the way the brush works? Or do you just grab one? Do you have favorites among them? How much difference is there among several high-quality brushes?

Which comes first? The cream/soap decision? Or the brush decision? Sometimes when I am deciding on what to use if I use a soap then it has to be a best or pure badger. So that decides the brush. Some work best in specific combinations. I think Cooncatbob makes custom wood pieces. I think it was he who did that custom razor rack a while back. Maybe if you could give him what you are looking for he could do it. It would be better than a cabinet maker because he understands the application better.

Can't help but envy that collection!
What I don't envy though is the dilemma you must have in choosing which brush/razor to use each morning lol
Nice collection and nice display too; you even cathed up with me regarding the speed of collection i think; i collected 104 brushes in about 36 months which is 2.9 brushes a month; your speed of collecting is much greater.... i better watch in my rear mirror:biggrin:

W O W ! ! !
Michael, I'm looking forward to seeing your cream, soap, edc, etc...
Looks like someone is a fan of simpsons! :thumbup1: One of these days I'll get a burst of energy and setup my "'shave stand" of brushes, razors, colognes, etc an take an updated pic.
Beautiful collection, Michael.
Please keep us updated on the toggle, as that's one razor very high in my short list.

I often decide what to use in shaving on the day/evening before. I do tend to use the Mocha-Java shaving stick on Mondays (Sunday is a no-shave day, so Monday's stubble really grabs the soap off the shaving stick). If I have a new razor to try, I'll load it up the night before and put it out. If I have a soap or cream I want to use, I'll put that container in the lathering bowl.
The brush I just pick in the morning: they're nicely displayed, so it's easy to find one to fit my mood...

Oh, and this morning I already decided that tomorrow I'll shave with the Gillette toggle, so it's already loaded and set out ready for tomorrow. And I'm making a superlather with Mama Bear's Tahitian Vanilla and Taylor Avocado. So some decisions were already made by the time I finished shaving this morning. :001_smile

Aha. I knew that Ouch had asked about the toggle. Reasonably good shave, comfortable to hold. It's very much the same as the Gillette Fatboy, of course. Nice.
This morning: Mocha-Java, Vision loaded with fresh Feather, and the TBS brush---its first outing. Soft like a Rooney Super Silvertip, though not quite so dense. But nowadays I view that as a characteristic and not a fault, and I got a fine lather and a great shave.

I like that perspective. Most quality brushes are neither 'bad' nor 'good'. They simply have characteristics that differ from one another.
