Reapplying diamond paste?

If I hone and use a pasted strop for sharpening my razor how often should I add a new layer diamond paste to my strop? Also, should I try to remove the old paste from the leather?

No you don't remove the old stuff. Once properly applied the stuff should last a very long time. Unless your a honemeister who hones everyday it should last for years. Once you find its not doing its job anymore that will be a clue.
