After you shave, can you still see the recessed hairs above the lips or below your lips? Could this be due to not a sharp enough blade?

I have experienced this before, its quite annoying. It usually happens to me If I'm using a naturally "heavy" cream (such as Taylor Avocado), with a dull blade, or one that isn't opened up to at least a 2 on my adjustables.
A sharper blade, or a higher setting should do the trick.

I'm using a merkur hd so I can't adjust anything :(
So I guess it should be the blade then?

guess I'll find out which blade is for me after I finish letterk's sampler pack
what does BBS stand for? I'm guessing something about the best shave ever? If so then if you had a BBS you shouldn't be able to see any hairs left on your face correct?

BBS is smooth like glass, with no stubble at all. I might guess that you have very fair skin, and that's why you can still see hairs. If this is the case, maybe try using a Talcum after shaving.

I would guess the same, you can just see the hair follicles. The only way you would be able to remove them is through waxing. You could also get some tan or fake tan. I think they have moisterisers with tan this days.

talcum?
Yep,
i.e. Pinaud:

It will soak up excess moisture, and hides some nicks and blemishes.

This isn't necessarily the only coloring of skin through which whiskers are visible. I have olive colored skin, and my whiskers always show some shadow.

Could a little Hydrogen Peroxide be used to bleach the cut whiskers in order to camoflage them?

I don't have stubble or hair that protrudes past the skin line after a shave. I am truly BBS so I'm not sure how I could bleach the hair. Additionally, If it were possible, I would have to do it every day. Way too much work and I don't really have a problem with it anyway.

Somebody mentioned stretching the skin, now I never thought of this before and it seems like the right thing to do to see if it has any effect, d'oh
any advice on this?
I'm Chinese if that has any effect at all on whether or not my beard will still give off a shadow/grayish appearance
Even when I'm shaved BBS there's still a "gray" area on my face where my beard hairs grow.
I don't worry too much about the look of it, people can clearly see the difference between properly shaved with a gray "shade" and unshaved.

this annoys me to no end
I remember that I used to be able to have no gray area when I first started shaving, mach3 and edge canned gel.
Now I can't even achieve the same results :(
I'm going to try my dad's razor after growing it out for a day and see what happens.
I'm just so damn frustrated.

I was like that too... at 15.
Now at 32 my olive complexion and jet black facial hair makes it look like I always have a beard. Doesn't bother me at all, I still have a BBS face after a shave. There's nothing more you can do since you're already getting a smooth shave, short of getting your face waxed.

i'll try the skin pulling technique when I have a chance to read through the whole thread
I need to find some time where I can let my facial hair grow out for 2-3 days so I can compare the difference I get betweeen wetshaving and an electric
