View Full Version : Coral Skin Food Reactions...?
I think that I might have had a slight reaction to Coral Skin Food.
It burned a little bit this morning. Is that normal or did I have a little reaction?

Skin food has never given me a burning sensation, I use both Coral nad Limes, But I always use an alum block prior to it's use.
That is odd, since Coral is supposedly the "sensitive skin" version of skin food. I've noticed a warm sensation after applying it, but never anything close to discomfort or burning. I always attributed it to whatever scenting oils were used.

I think in some cases if you get razor irritation pretty much anything will burn. Try some on unshaven skin and see if you get a reaction.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. I thought that's what was going on...
Thanks

I experience a reaction from the Coral Skin Food due to the menthol in it. I absolutely love the scent but anything with menthol turns my face bright red and takes me a couple of days to recover. On the other hand, I can use products with peppermint. I am keeping my nearly full bottle around just for a whiff of the fragrance once in a while. Who knows, I might eventually overcome my sensitivity!

I should also clarify and say that by warm, I mean about as slight as holding the palm of your hand near your face. It's slight, but there. Do you get the same irritation from the Lime SF?
You may be having a reaction to the glycerin.

I don't have the lime.

It is possible that your skin never healed from whatever happened to it yesterday (that caused your itching). Is this your first use of Skin food?

Thanks for noticing. No, I've used it a couple of times. I think that the itching came from dialing back and not getting all the stuble. I have had the warm sensation using the Coral and the Taylor's Rose. I'm thinking there is something in the fragrance, oil, or something I have had a similar feeling with the Taylor's Lavander yet not as bad. It's not like alcohol burning. But just a warm feeling.
I'm trying to shake down what's gonna work for me and what's not. So I was just wondering if it was just me...

Hi Tito,
It's not just you. Skin Food is not the right product for me either. Climate, skin chemistry, water conditions, combining other products, etc. make finding the right A/S pretty difficult. I have tried several myself and haven't found anything that treats me better than WH and a little moisturizer. Still sampling though, Harris milk on the way!
Cheers,
Jeff
Tito and Jim,
If you gents would still be interested in trying a product that seals the skin like skin food, you might try Corn Huskers Lotion. It is usually available at grocery stores, Wal-Mart, and various other chains.
