Hi all. I'm just about ready to buy my gear and I have a question.

I'm planning to buy:
-DMT E-Extra Fine (3 micron)
-DOVO Classic Special or TI Super Gnome (still deciding)

What I need to know is:
If I get a linen/leather strop, will some .5 Green Chromium Oxide paste on the linen bridge between the DMT and the plain leather strop? Or do you shaving shamans know what would be a good bridge between the DMT and the plain leather strop that's cheap?

I have a pretty hard $200 ceiling on this. I understand that my mileage will vary, but I'm looking for general guidelines here.

You can go that way. The green chrome is great for polishing, but you might consider a 2 sided paddle strop with 1.0 diamond on one side and the green chrome on the other. It's a pretty big jump from the 3.0 DMT EE to the 0.5. The 1.0 is a good step down IMHO.

if you buy the razor pre honed by a honemeister

I would say go with a 4 sided paddle from Tony (http://www.thewellshavedgentleman.com/) get the three sides pasted and skip buying the DMT for now .

Also if you are looking to save money on the razor why not try buying one from one of our many members . Most straights that are sold here are honed and ready to shave . this way you can figure out if you like the straights before you spend to much money on them

BTW Welcome to B&B
