Greetings all. This is my first post so I hope it isn't a repost (I used the search function). I was searching vintage shaving commericals today and thought others might be interested in some of the commercials I found:

Old Spice After Shave (1958)
http://www.roadode.com/classicwvx1/oldspice16I.wvx

Gillette Super Speed Razor (1948)
http://www.adclassix.com/classictvcommercials/1948gillettemajorleaguebaseball.htm

Gillette Blue Razor Blades 1948):
http://www.adclassix.com/classictvcommercials/1948gilletterazorblades.htm

Noxema Shaving Cream (60's)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Avloj6DXy8&search=noxema%20commercial

Hai Karate (60's) - This one made me laugh. It was pretty funny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vEuP...e%20commercial

Free Twin Blade Gillette Razor at MacDonalds with purchase of breakfast (70's) - It's a disposable razor, but I still found this commercial funny.
http://www.retrojunk.com/details_commercial/1001/

Old Spice Shaving Cream (50's) - This is download only, but worth it.
http://www.roadode.com/classicdownloads/oldspice3.zip

A Dull Razor (1900) - Not really a commercial, but this is a funny clip made by Thomas Edison of a man shaving with a straight razor. This is download only and available in three formats.

What Demoralized the Barbershop (1898) - Not really a commercial, but another funny clip made by Thomas Edison of what happens when two women stop at a barbershop.

(edited to put all videos in one post)

the last noxema commercial just makes me cringe seeing that guy swipe his face like a golf swing. I could just imagine using my DE razor loaded up with a Feather blade taking swipes like that..good Lord..

Take it off- take it all off ....Oh man I remember that when I was a kid,if you can believe it it caused quite a stink.,people were up in arms about how provocative it was, seems tame though by todays standards.

Ahh a nostalgia road trip ...

Holy crap! That Noxema shaving guy's eyelids are being dragged down by the force of his pass! I realized my mouth was gaping open in shock after watching that! Switching to a DE has completely ruined my ability to watch shaving product commercials comfortably.

I saw that as well. It put a shiver down my spine as I watched him try to scrape the outer layer of his skin off. That would make a good clip in a shaving video of what not to do.

No doubt. These are great. Just curious. The second one for the super speed, is labeled 1948 (in the video, not just the post), but it is for the three different exposure tapered knob ones. Surely that isn't really from 1948?

I love the Hai Karate advert, I remember my father getting a gift pack for Christmas! I thought it was the height of sophistication! :blushing:

Do ou reckon this guy, advertising Noxzema, has a blade in his razor?

If he was, he'd be gushing blood all over the place. I suspect it is just a blank razor.

Sorry about that. Here's where you can find them. Go to memory.loc.gov (http://memory.loc.gov) and in the search field type in "edison shave films". The first two results should be these little clips.
