I have a pumice stone and a new latigo strop that I nicked:mad: bad luck i guess i nicked my last new one too.

I have really not found the proper way to use a pumice stone, do I wet it and then rub? Last time I wet the stone rubbed the strop and dried with a tissue. But I have read people sanding with lather, and being very careful drying with tissue. If this was your strop how would you go about pumicing out a nick?

I wouldn't pumice a nick. First of all, how bad is the nick (can you post pics) and does it interfere with stropping? Fine grit sandpaper would work better in my opinion.

Oh yeah - SLOW DOWN TURBO, stop nicking your strops!

I have used a pumice to improve the drag and basically give it a fresh clean surface. I used waterless hand soap in conjunction with the pumice. This will not take out nicks. +1 on the sandpaper. Just make sure to clean it good after sanding. You can use a moist paper towel and wipe it off. Let it dry flat for a day then apply some type of treatment like Neatsfoot oil. Let it dry flat for another day then you should be good to go.
