A year and a half after giving up my multi-bladed Mach 3 or 3 or 4 or whatever it is now I have come to some conclusions that I wanted to pass on. Basically all the shave creams mentioned on the sight are wonderful and a giant step up from the can variety. I tried the CAR method of shaving and got a very good shave but no better than with the quality creams except for one thing - the cube. I have found the cube enhances effectiveness of all the creams I have tried. All the creams have given a close shave but the cube seems to add a bit more lubrication to the process. Whether you need it is a personal thing - skin type, etc.
The cube is cheap and lasts for a very long time.
Happy Shaving.

I love the cube, wasn't too fond of the smell though.

I've been using several different kinds of OOCubes, from these countries:

Syria
Italy
Lebanon
Greece
France

They all work very well, and are very slick....and while I wouldn't shave with them alone they make a good way to charge your brush before adding a cream.

Also, they care for the skin quite well and are good for general washing of hair, face, and body. :thumbup1:

Where can one find some of those OOCubes?

Asa general rule I take any and all oportunities that present themselves for learning something about grooming. And another opportunity has presented itself. I have no idea about the shaving creams, I currently use a soap. Here are my questions: what are the benefits of using a cream over a soap? What is the most commonly available cream? (Need to explain why I ask this, in my area only the most basic and common elements of clasic shaving are available. If I know the most commonly available brand name I have the best chance of finding it, if I decide to convert to creams). What does a typical tube cost?

It would be best just to try a quality cream and compare it to what you are now using. A tube cost between $10 & $15 depending on brand - a tub about double. This site is a good place to research the creams. I just got a tube of Proraso from Classic Shaving.com and I love the stuff.
