hello everyone,

Hope all had a good and safe New Years. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what is the proper way to apply this wonderful toner? I've seen other's use it in many different ways, and I've tried "spritzing", "Cotton Ball" and also as a splash. However for some reason I think the whole Cotton Ball idea makes the most sense (my own experience). I see there's some residue while using the cotton ball and with this I feel as though it's doing it's purpose. However I want to just splash it on (time saver) and just forget about it. Basically I'm tired of using the cotton balls and want to splash. What's your opinions about this? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can try splashing it on just like an aftershave. Or dampen a small place on a wash cloth & use it just like a cotton ball. I hope this helps!

I spritz, but I can't see why it would make much difference one way or the other.

I think it would make a difference btw spritzing/splashing and cotton balls. The cotton balls help pick up any residue left behind from the cleanser. Spritzing/splash I believe just dampens the skin and making it feel refreshed, toned etc, but not actually picking anything up i.e. residue. Kinda like putting wax on your car and than wiping it up (I'm sure there's waxes that don't need this), but I you get the point.

Just splash it on. That way feels best to me.

Thayer's Lavender is the greatest product since sliced bread. I use it twice a day; in the morning as a splash after shaving then on a cottonball in the evening before bed as a toner. I would drink it if it tasted as good as it smells..

Now if they only made it in astrigent Lime!

I spritz after a cold water rinse and just let it soak in as I clean up and get ready to apply AS and/or ASB.

I use the old fill the sink face dunk.

Hey, it's cheap enough.

I just splash it on, rub it around, and splash some more on. Great stuff. I also use it to apply moisturizer or balm. Just put a little of your favorite moisturizer in the palm of your hand (I've been using Burt's Bees products lately) squirt a little witch hazel on top, rub it all over your hands and apply to face. Oooh, Aaaah!!!!

I splash it on, massage it in being sure to get the spots that needed extra touch ups, and let it dry. Great stuff. Not sure what residue is left on my face after shaving and rinsing with cold water and a final hot towel.

I keep Thayer's at home and at work. After a shave, I spritz it on (kept in the refridgerator), but at work, I splash it on.

Thayers Alc. Free (rose, orig, lavender) *is* my aftershave... I just can't do any alcohol-based "aftershave splash" that the perfume companies try to push. (and a gallon of grain alcohol and water ISNT helping my skin)

In fact, the best thing I've gotten from DE shaving so far is discovering Thayers. I "tone" (spritz into my hand and wipe on, usually) several times during the day as a way to refresh. I can't imagine using it with a cotton ball - way too clumsy..

My normal shaving routine is shave, ice cold alum block, cold rinse, thayers, aftershave balm (nivea sensitive or lucky tiger), THEN scented "aftershave" all over the rest of my body for scent (or a real EDT, all the same)...

Of course with Musgo Real aftershave, it's largely witch hazel and aloe, so thats different... (and very expensive compared to thayers)

I typically use pads. I evaporate a container of Oxy or Stri-Dex, let them soak in distilled water a few days, dry them again, and fill the container with Witch Hazel.

I have since found a website where I can buy the pads. They are a wholesaler so I'd have to buy them in bulk. Haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Thayers sells pads for 6.95 from their website (http://www.thayers.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=17&zenid=9e71bc1a73bfc46817ca53ac3d60e127). You can find them all over online.

(PS. Just got home from buying a bottle of Dickinson's... Nearly vomited upon taking a whiff of it. Threw it under the sink and kicked myself for wasting 6 bucks that could of went to Thayers Lavendar..)

fold a few plys of Charmin ultra soft apply a bit of Witch Hazel (or whatever toner I'm using) and then I use that to apply. It leaves a nice clean feeling on my face and it also helps remove a few stra hairs dirt, etc.

I splash witch hazel on after the alum block dries (rinses off the residue), then apply aftershave.

Check your local Whole Foods or Wild Oats for Thayer's pads. They are readily available without having to make your own.

Hi Jim,

I use either a cotton ball or cotton pad. I think it helps clean the skin of cream/soap residue and whatever else may be left over from the shave. Nice and clean for final phase of shaving, conditioning the skin.

I spritz all over my wet face immediately following the cold water rinse and right before my A/S and ASB applications.

I've never used Thayer's, but was on my way out to spend some more on something shaving-related and found that GNC (online anyway - not sure about in the store) is having a sale on their witch hazel. Buy one, get a second for 50% off. All they have listed on their web site is Rose and Original at $8.99 plus the pads (Original) at $7.50. At $8.99 list, it hardly makes a difference, but I'll probably grab some while I'm out. Anyway, thought I'd mention it if anyone's interested. Enjoy!!
