Randy, Nomad's good too, but I don't think it goes with my body chemistry as well as Sienna. I need a spicy, exotic kind of scent. I had a sample of the Nomad cream, but I found Sienna lathers up much, much better.

Randy,
I personally love all of C&E shaving products creams and soaps. Also all their aftershave balms, EdT, body wash, shampoo etc. Very nice stuff. I only wish their EdTs had more staying power. Ron's solution works well - layering.

Just to prove a point, I used my floppiest brush to whip up the soap today. As you can see (after four passes), there was no problem whatsoever. In fact, I was extremely pleased with this brush/soap combo.
I gotta tell you, I have to fight to not use this Harris soap every day - it is that good.
Lastly (to Rik), this PS green tea cologne is a good match with Arlington soap if you don't like the Arlington cologne; they both have that nice "powdery" citrus thing going on.

Smartshave Exfoliating pads
Provence Sante' Shave Soap (in redware! )
Vulfix 41
for 5 passes; then
I used Hydrolast Cutting Balm (Lime and Green Tea) mixed with their Shave Paste for 2 passes.
For razors, I used a combo of Slant Bar with Feather Platinum blades and a Mach 3 (for one very irritated spot on my neck (heavy starched collar:prrr: )).
I finished with QED DaVinci water and Hydrolast Peppermint A/S balm.
After all of that "sunk in," I rubbed some Ultra Shave on my face and - WOW :001_tt1: It's like BUTTA!!
Finished up with Tabac EDC.

If I apply it in the am, ususally around 8:00, I'll still get whiffs into mid-afternoon. It's a great winter scent, and matched up well with the patchouli shaving soap and a/s I am wearing today. I don't think this is for the under 30 crowd, but I could be wrong.

Hi all,
I picked up a Cigar by Remy Latour during the summer at either TJ Maxx or Marshall's (can't remember which)....I think I paid less than $10.
I've used it probably 2-3 times. I put it away thinking that it would be a great cold weather fragrance and will have to try it on the next cold morning.
I've seen this a few times at the stores but never paid it any mind since I had a bottle.

Sue,
When I gave up my Atra and started using a DE, the Aloe was recommended on another forum for razur burn. I quickly learned that it was a great moisturizer, and helped a great deal with razor burn. Well, half a year later when using a DE, razor burn is not an issue, but I still like it as a moisturizer. It dries with a matte finish, no scent and to me, it's not heavy. However, when I use a straight, I'm still having some minor issues with razor burn in my lower neckline. The Aloe quashes the fire! Until recently, the Aloe was the only post shave treatment I used. Since I'm not a soapmaker, I don't understand how you could incorporate it into the soap. You would be the expert, but in reality, a good shave consists of a smooth face w/o razor burn. There would definitely be a benefit to it being in the soap. Tonight (Friday) I shaved with Em's shaving soap. When I was done, 95% of my face felt moisturized. Just the lower neckline was an issue. Hope this makes sense.
Randy
Randy,
How and when do you use the Aloe Vera gel shown?
Would you see a benefit to incorporate it into the soap itself?
Sue
Sue,
I think I can be of some assistance here!
The Aloe Vera Gel is used as an aftershave. Basically you take a small dime, to have dime sized portion, and spread it across the shaved region, and proceed to massage it into your skin. It is WONDERFUL at releiving irritation, and really works wonders. It is also wickedly inexpenisve, and a bottle goes a terribly long way. Including it in shaving soap typically is not to terribly effective, as if it is applied afterwards, and allowed to sink in, and remain on/in the skin, it has an effect, where as if it is just immedietly washed away after shaving, it doesn't provide that much of a benefit.
As you stated in an earlier post - you try other soaps and what not - you might want to try WillG's "Emerald" soaps, as they are aloe vera based, and using your husband as a guinea pig :spockflam you can explore any potential benefits!!

Aloe is already in my Aftershaves. I guess it wouldn't add any value to a soap since it is washed off. Possibly as a 'preventative' ingredient. Hmm, have to think about that more and maybe try a test bar.

:frown: Ron, I just wish I could get my mitts on a cake of Tabac soap, I was shaving with it in the 80's, and then poof! it just disappeared from the city of Montreal. Also, what's that Shavemac Seiffenschaummeister?

Jeff -
Charles at QED has the Tabac shave soap now (along with some of their other products). Very reasonably priced, too (like any of Charles stuff ISN'T?)
