What's new

What camera and photo gear do you use?

A Manfrotto tripod 055XPROB with a Manfrotto 460MG head, a Metz Mecablitz 48 AF-1 flash unit and a couple of filters, remote controls etc. complete my equipment.

Sold my heavy tripod and got a Sirui T-2204 XL with a K-20X ball head instead, about four weeks ago. That carbon-fibre tripod is signficantly lighter than my Manfrotto 055XPROB (1/3 of the weight), but almost as tall and versatile. It features an even slightly smaller pack size than the Manfrotto 290 Light Kit, so it's perfect when I'm on the go.

Sony a6000 user here! I have various AF primes and zooms but I primarily shoot with legacy manual primes. Photography is therapy for me so the slow, deliberate nature of MF lens really resonates with me.

Just updating that I have sold my Sony a6000 and purchased the Sony a6500. In-body image stabilization is a much welcomed, much appreciated feature considering my heavy usage of legacy lens.

Tremendous entourage.

There was a time when I badly wanted to try my hand at large format. I think at the time I just couldn't justify the cost of the equipment. Never considered myself talented enough to take advantage of that large expanse of negative but looking at the work of large format photographers amazed me.

Upgraded my Sony A77 to a Sony A99 ii three weeks ago.
Still learning to know the camera, but I am quite satisfied :001_smile

My wife took classes at Santa Monica college and it was required that she have a large format. They are quite fun to use. Though having a spot meter helps in a lot of situations. I really want to get a digital back for it.

Hey that's great @valthun.

Large format no doubt encourages the photographer to consider carefully all aspects of the image composition and its exposure before the decision is made to depress the shutter release.

In my case it was buying my first medium format, a Mamiya RB67, that taught me the relationships of aperture and shutter speed.

Now a digital back...that could change the equation!

I have some equipment I do wish I had kept...but...owing to the fact they were all film machines I seriously doubt I would put them to use, at least in this phase of life. That's quite the lineup you have :)

Fujifilm XT-1
Fujifilm XT-2
Sony A6000
Nikon Nikkormat film camera
Contax G2 film camera
Canon AE-1 film camera
Nikon F4 film camera

All with full range of lenses

Here's an oldie I bought in the early 90's and still have...a Nikon F Photomic, a rugged, all-mechanical classic. Haven't had it out in eons due to complete conversion to digital but used it quite a bit when I first bought it.

Tell you what though...when you look through its large, bright and contrasty 100% viewfinder it knocks your socks off. Manual focusing is a breeze!
