Finally got one of these after I heard a rumor it may be discontinued. It's a nice addition to my collection of low-end automatics. The lume is bright all night (my power has been off and on through the recent storms here on the west coast). Orient "Mako" 65001
No current shots of it, but today was my Seiko 7005-6020 automatic. This was my dad's until last year sometime. When I was in high school I had one identical to it. Dad got them at the same time at a duty free shop in the Virgin Islands in the 70's on a cruise he and my mom went on. Mine was stolen the summer after I graduated from high school out of my car. So when I had the opportunity to get it, I took it.
Nice story, glad that you were able to get your dads copy of the watch. I see from a search that the Seiko 7005-6020 looks similar to their current "Recraft" models, where they took inspiration from the dials and cases made decades ago, but made the watches a bit larger for modern buyers.
