What's new

Unknown SE razors need help identifying. Picture heavy.

I recently won and received this SE razor and am at a loss as to who made it or if it has a particular name or brand. Came in a green box that says "Manufactured Expressly Firefox The Nyal Store O. J. Severeid Huxley, In." And I'm not even sure if the box belongs to the razor.
Of all vintage safety razors I've handled, this one is by far the most unsafe to replace the blade in. There is a top metal slide that hold the blade in place. You kind of have to hold the handle with both hands then use your thumbs to push the tabs on the underside of the metal slide to remove it. Takes quite a bit of force. Nearly cut myself on the old blade that came installed in it.
The only thing stamped on the razor is "Pat'd AUG.31, 1909"
Any information to help identify this razor will be greatly appreciated!
By the way, it will accept modern GEM blades without modification.

Mine arrived today and will NOT take an unmodified Gem razor blade per my checks. My box is printed with "ADELENE". "Made expressly for W. W. Wilson". The Gem blade is about .050" wider than the original and with spine is enough higher so that the lower edge overlaps the lower blade stops with the top of the blade against the top stop on the razor. Per my measurements a narrowed Valet Auto Strop Feather blade will be the best fit as it is within .010" of the same height as the original blade, but shorter, and is .050 too wide. Grind down one edge by .050" and it will be virtually identical to the original blade. The razor front plate is marked "HODES-HYMAN SPEC CO." and "ADELENE". Also "Fremont, O. and the above listed patent number.

Overall it is a very basic safety razor and relatively early. The W.W. Wilson box advertisement lists them as dealers in Vehicles, Wagons, Harness, Blankets, Robes, Whips and Fur Coats. Sounds like unheated horse drawn vehicles and necessary accessories.

I used mine 3 times last week. I had to remove the spine from a Gem blade.
For a simple looking razor, for mine at least, it's very aggressive. Makes a OCMM seem very mild in comparison. Each time I used it I got a BBS.
