PI killed all the dinosaurs and was responsible for slavery. On a side note, its widely believed that PI was also responsible for that damned haunted clown AND that fat psychic chick that always freaked me out from Poltergeist.

Pi is an overrated number. Phi is much more interesting, and e is much more important.

I've always been a fan of Buffon's Needle Problem though; so despite generally agreeing with your assertion, I still think Pi is pretty darn cool.
No question. I think it was the second irrational number discovered, after the square root of two.
Baloney, cornbread, baked as it should be in a cast iron skillet, is round.
Whereas baloney, baked in a skillet, round or square will always be both round and flat.
The third was no doubt the number of shoes owned by a mathematician's wife.
