SOTD "HOLIDAY WEEK" - December 19th - December 25th, 2016

I'm new here but I'm going to jump right in because I'm excited.
Razor: muhle R41on a Weber Bulldog handle
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Shave Cream: Castle Forbes Line
After shave: Lucky Tiger Face Tonic
After After shave: Lucky Tiger Hair Tonic

On most parts of my face it feels like there was never any growth at all.

I was able to go against the grain first which is the first time I've been able to do that with any blade/cart/straight etc.

I find the light oils in the hair tonic prevent my face from drying out. Plus I like the smell.

Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays if that suits you better.)

Welcome to SOTD. It's good to be excited. You have a nice setup.

Excellent Friday, gentlemen. Fine photos and written posts. Thanks for each of them.

@skypsyd - Talk abut elegant, Dave! Spectacular! Love that blade. Too bad there's not a Saponifico Varesino EdT....
@Clint64 - Quite a Christmasy shave. Neat shot.
@carm-gs - Nice high angle pic. Like the trailing Futur and leading Clubman.
@shm - Classy photo, Søren. Now I know why the brush looks so nice.
@Navarrsky - That's an exceptional array. Tone perfect!
@rockviper - Can't blame you at all, Sam! Fine nostalgic photo.
@Bobcat - A very appealing shave, Bob.
@lindyhop66 - Sweet looking shave. Fine elements. Like that razor.
@UngerWoo - Attractive layout. Neat soap.
@Cash_Stronomer - Man, that does look cold. I feel for the razor and brush ... though snow does make for beautiful photos.
@blzrfn - Marvelous pic, Dave. The cased President is a beauty. Jolly festive additions.
@cmh737 - Charming photo, Chris. Striking razor. Did you like the Stirling F&M?
@xxlpack - An extremely smart looking shot. Love your leaves.
@Doug57 - Great dizzying picture, Doug. Neat shadows. Excellent choice for support of your elements.
@doc47 - Outstanding presentation, Dan. Great choice in razor and blade display.
@Dagwoodz - Like your arrangement, Josh. The Bond No. 9 makes a great rest for your razor.
@blexa - An intriguing shave. That's a very interesting razor. Love the brush handle.
@Jnatcat - Fine looking arrayment, Will. Every time I see that brush I crave it more.
@witeq - Nicely done b&w, Witek. Ah, such a forlorn little snowman; he needs companionship.
@PACO GALAN - Splendid high angle shot nicely cropped to a horizontal. Like the size of the scuttle.
@ram57 - Excellent portrait of a promising shave. Great framing and tasty border.
@DblD - Great overhead close up. That's a quality shave.
@EzraCobb - Definitely one cool shave, Jamie.
@sandstone - That photo is a stand out, Phil! Exceptional lighting. Point on placement.
@Smattayu - Top of the line setup, Eric, and such color coordination! Those scales are quite fine. Normally I don't like beehive shapes ... but there are exceptions!

Ah, here as I write this, it is early Christmas Eve. For those celebrating the holiday I hope all is going well.

Time for me to depart for the evening, gents. See you soon.

Thank you very much, Ron. :001_smile

@cmh737 - Charming photo, Chris. Striking razor. Did you like the Stirling F&M?

Thanks, Ron! I actually did not care for the scent of Stirling's F&M. I liked their "Christmas Eve" much better. The best F&M scented soap I've tried is Mystic Water's version - by a wide, wide margin.

Mastro Livi Inox Extra Full Hollow

I love the smell of juniper wood. Not only it has a lovely Mediterranean scent, it also has a beautiful texture I truly like. That's why today I used this Mastro Livi shave brush, having a handle in juniper wood, because I wanted to smell that fragrance. Not to mention the fact the loft of this brush has a magnificent performance: a two band silver wild badger providing a good backbone while giving a lovely caress on the skin. A perfect combination with the amazing P.160 shaving cream with a luxurious wealth of soft and moisturizing lather. As for the straight razor, I used this Mastro Livi Inox Extra Full Hollow, a straight razor with a stainless steel blade delivering a super smooth and close shave. Floïd Blue provided the finishing touch - in my opinion one of the very best aftershaves around - for a super satisfying and velvety smooth shave.

  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Nuova Elberel P.160 Professional
  • Brush: Mastro Livi Double Band Silver Wild Badger, Juniper Handle, 24mm knot
  • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Inox, 6/8 Extra Full Hollow, Round Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
  • After Shave: Floïd Blue

Pre-shave: Kiehl's Facial Fuel/Van Yulay Shave Oil
Razor: Gillette Black Handle SuperSpeed
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: EverReady 200 Restore w/Whipped Dog Silvertip
Soap: Kiss My Face Key Lime Shave Cream
Aftershave: Alum/ Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel
Balm: The Cool Fix

Prep - Noxzema / Hot towel
Pre shave - Proraso
Razor – Weber ARC
Blade – Astra S/P
Brush - 'The Duke' (Duke 3 Best)
Soap – Stirling - Texas on Fire
Post - Witch Hazel, Trevarno Revitalising Face Oil
Fragrance of the Day - Amouage Tribute Attar

There is a reason why the Weber has a cult following, and with the Astra S/P, gave a sublime, 2 pass shave. Whilst the Texas on Fire was superb in every way...I really dig those smoky scents, so much so, that I decided to wear my Tribute attar.. yep, the original one, in the reddy/brown box... hohoho, merry Xmas y'all..
