The oldest SE razor in my den. Pat. 1901 this razor still gives amazing shaves. Designed for wedge blades, it works excellent with a modern blade using the spine from a modern blade as a shim. The Desperado makes great lather and the aroma is intoxicating. Have a blessed day gentlemen.

Have a Great day Gentlemen

Sunday SOTD ::::: July 24, 2016

Prep: Hot Shower w/Gillette Fusion ProSeries Sensitive Face Wash
Pre-shave Oil: Adam Stump Original
Soap: Stache Soap Works Aqua
Brush: Vintage Every-Ready F40 boar
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE87BL
Blade: Big Ben Super Stainless (6)
Post Splash: Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel unscented
Aftershave: K Shave Worx Frosen

For today's noon time shave I decided to use a mug for a change. What a difference! I'm a bowl latherer so the dynamics were quite striking. If the soap puck were firmly in the mug I'm sure I could have whipped (even in the confined space) a nice lather but I only managed a proto lather which I transferred to my cheeks and neck for facial development. It was not the fault of the soap but my technique. Stache Soap Works products are fine and Aqua is no exception. My face lathering ability is a bit lacking but I created a nice protective layer and the slickness was quite good. In the jar the soap has a nice, fresh scent but I really couldn't detect the aroma as I shaved. The soap does produce a creaminess that has firm peaks. I will say that the original boar in the Ever-Ready has a hell of a lot of backbone! And it does need a bit of breaking in. The Edwin Jagger is one of my core razors and fitted with the surprising Big Ben blade on its sixth outing my shave was smooth and close as I wanted. I think the blade is good for at least one more shave [I have this thing about testing a blade's limits]. Frosen was a good closer to the shave with the menthol a nice subtle tingle that grew a bit and lasted for half an hour.
