@Smooth Steve - Neat razor bridge between the soaps, Steve. Your new scuttle is a fine piece of work.

@Smooth Steve - Let us know your impressions of Octane, Steve.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm enjoying the scuttle, but I can honestly say it does not warm as well as my broken Crown King used to. The walls are much thicker, the inner chamber is shallower and hold less water, and the mouth is very big without a plug. You really can't pick it up full with water because the water comes out too easy. It is much bigger and I can dry bloom by warming up the tubs in it. It is also larger to lather in. It definitely looks great.

Octane is fantastic. I used it this morning and was very pleased. Starting with the packaging, the labels are well done and glossy. It seems water proof. The tub is a brown transparent plastic and also has a nice side label for easy identification.

The scent is a similar to PAA #9 (Home on the Range), but is a bit milder with the solvent/gas component. This is replaced with a more smooth, motor oil accent fragrance. If you like these manly, automotive scents, you will love this. The scent is medium strength and is not obnoxious or unpleasant. The profile is well blended and again, the best I can describe it is a dense and smooth fragrance without outstanding or strong peaks of anything contrasting or clashing.

The performance is outstanding. It lathered easily, had a nice cushion, and provided a good slickness. It is a quality product. The post shave left my skin nicely moisturized and feeling great. I highly recommend Octane if the scent sound like something that may interest you.
Steve

Razor - Gem damaskeene razor
Brush - Pheasant wood JR #141 22mm Best Badger
Shaving cream - Cella
Bowl - Turkish dimpled copper

I've been using the same razor and blade for a week now, something I've never done. The Damaskeene is just that razor and blade combo for me. These thicker blades last longer on my aging greying beard than do double edge blades.

Monday Morning SOTD

Pre shave hot shower and Kiehl's Facial Fuel face wash
Cracked open a NOS Wilkinson Sword Bonded System razor
Simpson Chubby 1 best badger
Kiehls Lite Flite Shave Cream
Aqua Velva Blue Ice AS splash

Cant wait to try out the WS bonded razor, giving the Kiehl's cream another run, it is incredibly thick, slick and protective. However the scent is not very appealing, very medicated, might add a drop of AOS Ocean Kelp or Lavender cream and see if it improves.
