Back on topic. As much as I like looking at equipment let's see some coffee house pics!
An acquaintance of mine in my neighborhood (cool, young guy) told me that he bought a building in the neighborhood. He's plans to use it as a production studio in half of the building and a coffee shop in the other half. I don't patron coffee shops very often, there is another locally owned coffee shop in the neighborhood that I've been to a few times, but I will definitely visit my acquaintance's coffee shop.
I made a documentary of my local coffee houses.....Just kidding, I had nothing to do this video, its an 30 minute episode from NC Now, shown on local PBS stations.
Gotta love the recycling going on here. Do those chairs fold up like those in some old movie theater? What is the name of this coffee house??This coffee house has been in my neighborhood for over a year and I knew nothing of it! Drove by it yesterday on accident as I was taking an alternate route to take my daughter to preschool. Awesome place. Big, expansive, airy.
I'm totally digging the old movie house antique chairs that has been re purposed into use. Digging that! LOTS of quality wood everywhere with a mixture of hard and soft with couches in the back.
Also notice the old medicine/ file drawerer in the back as a way to keep track of the beans. What didn't come through is the coffee roaster off to the left. Old music 20's big band music is piping through the speakers as I sit. A GREAT Saturday wake up.

I particularly like the chairs facing the window. every time I'm in a starbucks I stare out the window, even if i'm with someone. What a genius idea! You don't say. First time I heard of them. A great first impression too. Great coffee.Insight rocks. I've had an eye on them since before they opened.
Nice spot indeed Wankel fan.
what a terrific looking place. Most important question though... how's the coffee? And how engaged are the baristas?
Coffee is excellent. It's the high caliber kind you normally find at these places where the beans are well rounded flavor a bit nutty while being slightly chocolatey. All that depends on the beans used of course but that's what came to my pallet when I had mine. The baristas are welcoming and professional and certainly knowledgeable in how to pull the coffee from the old presses. Pretty cool watching them make a cup. Thanks for asking.
Here you go. An old fashioned pull set up.Follow up question... What equipment are they using?
Lots of good places here, but I probably frequent these two the most. Ritual and Sightglass.
