What's new

Random shots of my coffee house

An acquaintance of mine in my neighborhood (cool, young guy) told me that he bought a building in the neighborhood. He's plans to use it as a production studio in half of the building and a coffee shop in the other half. I don't patron coffee shops very often, there is another locally owned coffee shop in the neighborhood that I've been to a few times, but I will definitely visit my acquaintance's coffee shop.

Looking forward to that.

I made a documentary of my local coffee houses.....Just kidding, I had nothing to do this video, its an 30 minute episode from NC Now, shown on local PBS stations.

I've heard of both those coffee roaster Counter culture being the loudest among enthusiast. One of the guys over at watch forum his brother owns it and I've yet to take him up on his offer of the coffee. In fact it's time to go get some..... Downstairs!:w00t: Cold no less. Yummy! As a side note my local co-op has some serious kick butt coffee. A co-op!

This coffee house has been in my neighborhood for over a year and I knew nothing of it! Drove by it yesterday on accident as I was taking an alternate route to take my daughter to preschool. Awesome place. Big, expansive, airy.
I'm totally digging the old movie house antique chairs that has been re purposed into use. Digging that! LOTS of quality wood everywhere with a mixture of hard and soft with couches in the back.
Also notice the old medicine/ file drawerer in the back as a way to keep track of the beans. What didn't come through is the coffee roaster off to the left. Old music 20's big band music is piping through the speakers as I sit. A GREAT Saturday wake up.

Mike thanks. There was an eclectic mix of patrons in there from the father & son playing chess out front(the boy was about five!) To a husband and wife on the leather couch reading in the back. By the time I came back from the restroom he was asleep. Lol! A family with their kids came in, a long haired cyclists and a heavily tattooed lady with a lot of peircings. Cool. Reminded me of a Davis university town. Definitely my go to spot from now on.

Gotta love the recycling going on here. Do those chairs fold up like those in some old movie theater? What is the name of this coffee house??

Yes they do! The iron on that chair has to be over 60 years old. I really like the solid wood pillars that they cut up to be used to place your coffee on the right side. They look like old I-beams from a building. In fact those chairs look oddly familiar like I saw them at an antique fair not to long ago. Have to hit up the owner of Insight coffee house. Really excited I found this place. Next moth I'll be buying a bike so this place is roughly fifteen minutes from me via bike.

I particularly like the chairs facing the window. every time I'm in a starbucks I stare out the window, even if i'm with someone. What a genius idea! That would be my spot.

Yup that would be me. Love slowing down a bit now & then. Did a lot of sitting and people watching in Germany while having coffee at various squares. Romer square in Frankfurt being the one.

Insight rocks. I've had an eye on them since before they opened.
You don't say. First time I heard of them. A great first impression too. Great coffee.

Nice spot indeed Wankel fan.

Thanks! I am a Wankel fan.:001_smile

what a terrific looking place. Most important question though... how's the coffee? And how engaged are the baristas?

Coffee is excellent. It's the high caliber kind you normally find at these places where the beans are well rounded flavor a bit nutty while being slightly chocolatey. All that depends on the beans used of course but that's what came to my pallet when I had mine. The baristas are welcoming and professional and certainly knowledgeable in how to pull the coffee from the old presses. Pretty cool watching them make a cup. Thanks for asking.

Follow up question... What equipment are they using?

Lots of good places here, but I probably frequent these two the most. Ritual and Sightglass.
