Oldest Single Ring known

Bit of a thread resurrection here, but I managed to stumble on a very low serial numbered "First Year" Single Ring.

The case doesn't seem to be the correct Slide-Latch version from 1905, but regardless, someone along the line did a mini-resto on it:

This is also a good time to see if there are some other updates out there in Single Ring Owner land.

I gently peeled off the resto label to expose this label. Looks like a dealer from back in the day: "Razo-King"

Looks like the original Gillette backing is underneath this one, but heck, this label is clearly from the era, so I don't know if it's worth trying to remove it.

Congratulations Scotty. Hope you were wearing a mask when you stole it for $18. :thumbup1:

Here is my 1905 - Ser# 325462.

Well I decided to give this guy a test run. I am actually very impressed with it. I had used an Old Type Ball End a while back and was left feeling a bit torn over the shave. Maybe I've gained some skills since then, who knows, but I was very impressed with the Single Ring. Shave was a bit more aggressive than say a Deluxe NEW, but the face feel afterwords was very similar. The razor itself reminded me a lot of a #77. I'm actually surprised that these aren't coming up more in SOTDs etc.

I was going to put it in Early Single Rings Wiki Database but I see it's in there already.

That's very cool, especially for $18. Awesome score on the raxor and case.

That is worth resurrecting the thread.

Congrats!!

Might as well show my 1905 early single ring as well (293872) :001_cool:
15594 off from the earliest known single ring (prophetic_joe's 278278) I wonder how many manufacturing days this would amount too?
