New Feather All Stainless Safety Razor

That looks like a cast head to me. The pin marks there would indicate that process. The base plate looks like it might have been cleaned up on a mill perhaps. The bottom of the base plate has some small curves in the details, It would have taken a tiny bit to create those and that would have shot the cost up into a ludicrous range. That being said.. it's a nice looking piece of steel. This might become a must have...

Wonderful photos. Thank you.

I'm no razor expert, but it seems that the flat base plate on the head is somewhat reminiscent of older (more aggressive) Techs. Is that correct?

I can't say for sure as I no longer have both types of Techs. However, since it's likely cast, it's beefier than the stamped Tech base.

I think you're right, Michael. The top of the base is the only area I see that is milled and I'm sure that was done to establish a consistent blade gap. As you noted, the other detailing is quite intricate and looks to be cast for sure.

My next step is to try to get some blade gap measurements and photos.

The price tag doesn't need justification, just needs need people to pay it.

For those that have used this and the Pils, are they different experiences?

This might be my favorite post in a long while.:thumbup1:

Anybody satisfied that it's not "just a tech?"

That is a handsome unit! I want one. Thanks for posting the shave porn, Texbilly. Can't wait for the reviews/comparos.

Well, I'm officially taking too much time on this project!

Here are two rough photos to show blade gap and exposure. I measured the blade gap of the Tech at just over .020" [.50mm] (the closest increment in my gage set) which would be consistent with the wiki's gap of .022" [.56mm]. The Feather comfortably accepted a .025" [.63mm] gage and would probably accept a bit more.

My eye tells me the blade exposure of the Feather is a bit wider than that of the Tech if I use my imagination and set each razor to proper shaving angle.

The stainless really is nice but I'll wait for the prefamulated Amulite version surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two Spurving bearings are in a direct line with the pentametric fan, consisting of six hydrocoptic marzel vanes so fitted to the ambifacient lunar wane shaft, so that side fumbling is effectively prevented. With free blades.

Don, is the alloy you describe unobtainium? :001_rolle

Judging by the pictures, both parts of the head appear to be cast, but certainly well executed!

I like it... alot! And I don't think $150 is too much to ask for a lifetime razor.

Just now seeing this razor.

Must resist, ....................................................................., but resistance seems futile.

Bill, I'm anxiously awaiting your post on how this razor compares to the feather portable.
Thank you.

You just had to bring Method Shaving into this didn't you?

So does the razor shave like a Tech? More aggressive?

I must be one of the few people who don't really care for the way the Tech shaves. It seemed mild, but in a bad way. I recently picked up a Star "Silver Star" DE from the bay, as I read it was a "more aggressive" Tech style shave. Well the Star is also mild, but it's geometry allows it to rough up my neck, while leaving hairs behind (because it is mild). I am just about ready to put the Star on the BST.

So back to the Feather, would you say it shaves like a Tech, more more like a Merkur or Muhle safety bar head?

can anyone advice please were can I purchase this razor ??

I advise you not to purchase this razor. I'm with Suzuki, there is simply no justification for the price gouge. Wouldn't you be more satisfied spending your dough for a LE B&B wristwatch then for an overpriced tech knock off?
