Nakayama Kiita Stones

I know I'm being picky, but I'd be more interested in a stone closer to 2 inches wide - any chance of being able to specify the size we'd want?

Also very interested.

Sorry if I'm posting late, but I don't know how it works.

I thought you sold things in the buy and sell forum.

I thought you would be posting a price and a description in the normal manner.

Anyway, I am still very interested as I was when I read the first post you made.

Just not sure what to do.

The stone arrived today. It's just under 8" long on one side and 6" long on the other side. It's 3 5/16" wide. It cost me 16000 yen shipped from Japan, which was about $167 USD using PayPal's conversion rate. That's a very nice price for a stone this size.

It's very hard - too hard. It's not soft enough to cut at the speed I like so I tried to build my own slurry. I got it going but it's not as thick as I would like. Maybe I'm spoiled. It's not Asagi slow but not as fast as a yellow Kiita. The color is green with faint yellow. I spoke to the dealer and he said that "It is thin and small but ultimate class. JP straight razor or hand plane polisher love such a profile." It's still a very good finishing stone - I touched up a razor with no problem - but I told him that I prefer one faster. He told me he'd remember that for next time.

I'm going to sell this one so I can get a faster, yellow one. From there, I'll let you know whether it's worth it to buy in full.

It's size makes it most suitable for circle pattern honing rather than X-pattern honing IMHO. This is what Japanese non folding razor owners would love.

I agree. He was thinking Japanese straight razors when he sent me that stone. I've asked him for 2" to 2.5" in the future.
Dude, you are reawakening my HAD.

Shut your eyes! Karasu, Kiita, Suita, Asagi, Nagura, Mikawa, and a bunch of other stuff that I don't recognize! Aahhhhhh....

Uh oh! Some of those figured pieces in the second picture are beautiful.

You can put them around your house as art pieces.
