I have no problem finding 'new' music being currently produced by everyone from unknown young artists to old established fogies, i'm just not going to find it, for the most part, represented at anything like a Grammy awards show.

I have pretty much loved Bowie in all of his complexity across the decades, including Blackstar. My reference immediately above was to whether Blackstar's winning rock song of the year and best alternative album was simply to make up from the Grammys for ignoring him all of those decades. And the desire to make amends for past bad judgement does not make a record the best of the year, to me. But perhaps Blackstar deserved to win and in fact won, but for the wrong reasons, if that makes any sense.

At least it wasn't Leonard Cohen fest, I suppose, which I am kind of surprised by, and I pretty much love Leonard Cohen, too!
