I've been at this for a couple of weeks now, with a few days here and there using a DE to give my face some time to recoup from my lack of technique. I can say that today was my first really good shave where everything just came together from start to finish. I'm super excited about it because I was having doubts as to whether it was worth the trouble seeing as I was already getting great shave from a DE. Not only did I get a great shave today (almost as good as my DE), it didn't take me any longer than the DE.
I'm going to say the #1 difference maker was getting over my apprehension and making good deliberate stroke instead of many tentative ones. I was trying to be too light, too careful, and definitely stretching too much.
This board has been so great over the past few years, teaching me first to use a DE like a Boss, now getting my feet wet with a straight.
