Adding Lavender Essential Oil to Witch Hazel

Discussion in 'Aftershaves' started by MetroNome, May 3, 2011.

  1. I picked up a small bottle of Lavender Oil to experiment with mixing with Witch Hazel. I tried the Thayers Lavender with WH, but thought the scent was weak. So I picked up bottles of Dikensens WH, Thayers Original WH w/Alcohol, and Thayers WH Unscented w/o Alcohol. I also bought a small 4oz spray bottle.
Going to mix with each WH.

Was wondering if anyone has done this mixture before? Any suggestions? How many drops of oil per 4oz WH?

    Thanks...

You may want to mix the witch hazel with a lavender hydrosol; you might get the results you're looking for.

  3. I'd start with 2 per oz and add if necessary.

  4. I put 3 drops of rose wood EO in a 100 ml (3.3 oz) bottle of WH. Although the oils do not mix with the WH and float on top of it, the awful smell is gone.
