I simply must post a picture of the Gillette New Replate that Natchez sent me. It's so beautiful that I'm not sure I can shave with it. Pictures do not do this razor justice.

Last week I picked up my first 3 Fountain pens. Two I restored one was new. Once my friend found out I was interested in them he dropped off the rack of Wearevers ( which at that time you couldn't tell one color from the next, But I've cleaned them up a bit, and replaced 9 of the ink sacs) and the second photo of FP's he dropped off I just finished restoring. He said I needed to learn with "junk " pens as to how to take 'em apart and fix them. Then just today he said I needed some upgrading and he gave me the next4 and mechanical pencil in the 3rd photo. A 51, vac fill, button fill, a balance with the jewel in the clip. This is all greek to me but I'll learn and clean them all up just the same.

And then he showed me these. A leather box containing a matched set of Ivory ( yes, I checked them to be sure) Holtzapffel razors. I thought they were just too neat. So as a measure of good will I'll clean them up for him. Seems the least I could do. We trade stuff all the time like this. Cool guy.
I did clean off the stamp a bit to be able to read it,, but I'm not going to go all out on these. Just a good clean up without changing the overall look. Doing more would ruin them I think.

Been wanting a Kimber for a long time now but just couldn't justify the price of a new one. Finally a used one showed up on a local classifieds website. Its a compact custom. Went shooting sunday morning and I have to say the reputation Kimber has for quality and accuracy is well deserved.

What a beauty!!!

December is off to a pretty good start, here's my Surrey shaving mug, my first OCMM, and my custom 24mm silvertip brush from Bob Farvour.

I will also be picking up what I believe is a cased Gem 1912 Damaskeene.

Got a delivery this morning of my latest purchase, a Gillette Super Speed B4 in excellent condition, thanks to NJBob. It's a Christmas present for a friend and I know he will be delighted with it.
Shopping for others is almost as good as shopping for myself. I like this hobby. :001_smile

I had good luck at the local antique mall today. I am thinking about putting together a shadow box in my shave den with vintage shave items in it. Anyway I got these three items today for $4 each. The old spice bottle is full by the way!!!$IMG_1169.JPG$IMG_1173.JPG$IMG_1172.JPG

All from evilbay, a Gillette British New set, an Ever Ready 1914 and 70 Valet blades

full

Well I started out on page one of the Score with a dozen or so straights.. then I got my pens just a few days later in the posts. So far so good. Then today happened which caught me off guard. All this was picked up locally from one of my "contacts". Nothing like one stop shopping. All totaled 26 straights, 5 full display cards never opened or missing a piece. Even the fold outs on the back have never been creased. Original signs ,, Well the photos will tell the story. This is the overview as I'm going to have to use a few posts to get it all in.
Don't know if I'm so much a collector as I am a hoarder of shaving stuff.
And excuse the shots,, I just backed my car into my studio and dumped the stuff on my table saw. If you want specifics on anything let me know. I'm sure I'll be posting these as I get around to cleaning them up.

Now for some specifics,

A full tube of Gillette cream with "Amazing new K-34"? I think I'm going to have to at least try a small squirt of this stuff. 3 -20 pack blue blades, and the Mystery Edge box close from previous photo.
A Simplex Military razor, never opened until today. All bakelike with the exception of the head which is black anodized metal. A quite heavy piece.
And an Ever Ready British travel set in Bakelite, never used. The piece is pristine! It has a Gem stamped made in England, You'll see it in later photos. This goes well with my collection of Gems.

continuing on,,, You can see the box is without a flaw,, as well as the razor. And you can see the Made in England/ British Made markings.

The first set of 26 straights starts with top to bottom, John Holler & Co Celebrated Razor, A Conestoga in horn, Hunter 610, A Tillot & son horn, and a Nubak
