Papa's First Tri-Tip

"Look what I found"
While the country is in the midst of a another winter assault, I took advantage of a 80 degree Florida sunday to attempt my first tri-tip. Used my Weber kettle grill, heat bricks centered under the meat and kingsford with oak chucks mixed in around the circumference. Total grill time of 45 minutes to a 135 degree medium rare.
Let Dinner commence.

Nice. Tri tips have a great shape and are cool because the diners who like the delicious 'still-mooing' juicy beef can sample the middle slices and the rest (like my mother-in-law) can enjoy the slightly more cooked stuff near the edges...

Looks like you might have been sold a sirloin tip as it's round. The tri-tip is triangular and flat. That being said, it still looks fantastic!!
