Norton granite hone.

IMG_1152.JPG

I just bought this granite hone, payed between 30-40$ for it. I have one old Franz Swaty barbers hone, after my grandfather. They feel pretty much the same. The Norton is blacker.
Is there anyone who uses Norton granite hones, who got something to say about it? Is it a regular barbers hone, or is this something else?

Never had one myself. Instructions? I always suspected it was intended to be used as a base for abrasive powders, pastes or slurry. I've seen other granite and glass hones meant to be used thusly.

That is interesting. Never heard of a granite hone. I just did a google search for Norton Granite hone, and didn't come up with any reviews for it.

I picked one up for a decent price a while back. It's an artificial barber's hone. Instructions say that it's to be used dry, so that's how I've used it. It felt sort of gritty, and I didn't like how things turned out. Since then, it's just be been sitting idle in its box.
